From Slides to Joggers, All I Want to Wear is Athleisure

To be more specific, all I want to wear is leggings, joggers, chill pants, workout shorts—basically I will never invite zippers or buttons anywhere near my crotch again.

This is sort of weird for me because I am usually the type of person who always wants to be perfectly put together no matter what the occasion. I am the type of person who has never officially owned a pair of sweatpants—although some might say that joggers can be considered them—or have ever worn them outside of the house.

I think this whole thing started a while ago when I was talking with my sister and Morgan about whether or not I should shave anymore. Something about that conversation broke my inner monologue regarding personal style, hygiene, and outward appearance.

It must have been a pretty damn good conversation right? It wasn’t, in fact, it wasn’t even a discussion it sort of just happened, but when it did I felt like I could care less about what other people thought about me.

Thus leading me to only wearing athleisure for weeks straight. Oh, the luxuries of working from home.

Elastic bands and tiny ankle holes will be the only things dawning these long legs of mine from now until forever. I wonder how many outfits I can pull off while wearing only athleisure?

I think the other thing that led me down this road was last years summer-of-culottes when everyone decided that swaths of fabric and open ankles were the best things since sliced bread. I love culottes as much as the next person, but something about wearing so much free-floating fabric disturbs me. Yohji Yamamoto also released a preview of his fall 2018 line, and although it was visually interesting, again the free-floating fabric covered legs disturb me.

It’s like, what actually is happening behind the fabric? I would rather have to squeeze my feet through tiny ankle holes than drown in a sea of fabric.

Oh no, is this the way minimalists begin? Was this how the blog The Minimalist started? Was it because they no longer wanted to wear actual clothes? I hate minimalism. Maybe I should start wearing swaths of fabric because more is more and less is lame. Am I right? Am I right?
