13 Aphorisms You Need to Include in Your Daily Routine

I was given a book a long time ago, by a friend who thought it would be a light-hearted read—it was—but, more than that, it turned out to be just the thing I needed to spark curiosity on a whole constellation of lifestyle topics that I never would have considered. Below are some aphorisms, inspired by the book, trickled with whimsy and intentionality, that should be read daily, preferably nightly, so they soak into your system—ritualistically, with a feather, and a smudge stick of your choice—even when inebriated.

Don’t be afraid of aging, as the adage goes, “don’t be afraid of anything but fear itself.”

Find “your” perfume ASAP, scent creates the strongest memories in our brain, and we all want to be memorable.

Be aware of your qualities and faults, there is nothing sexy about ignorance.

Make everything you do look easy, but don’t let your ego get to your head, it was hard work getting where you are.

Take long deep breaths regularly. Especially when you are stressed.

You’re LEWK should never be perfectly done. You should always have one messy, unfixed, and unkempt feature, the devil is in the details.

Go to the theatre, museums, & concerts as often as possible.

Remind yourself that you are beautiful, especially those little parts of your body that make you feel insecure. The vision you hold of yourself, is the vision people see. As the adage goes, “you get what you give.” Give yourself love.

Allow yourself to be the most honest version of yourself always. Never settle or hide for anyone.

Get in touch with nature at least one time every day. Feel the earth under your feet. Sit in the sunshine for ten minutes. Stop and smell the roses.

Forgive people who have wronged you quickly. Holding onto grudges makes you bitter and gives you wrinkles.

Listen to your instincts. Sometimes they speak loudly and other times they are soft-spoken, but either way, they won’t lead you wrong.

Take your life into your own hands, don’t wait for someone to put you where you want to be.

Do you have rituals and routines that help you cultivate the best version of yourself? List some of them below, let’s get the conversation started around affirmation and aphorisms.
